Karen Clark & Company estimates privately insured US losses from Hurricane Isaias at $3 billion from wind and storm surge, according to the Royal Gazette Bermuda Re.

Isaias was the ninth named storm of the 2026 Atlantic season and the first to reach hurricane strength, the latest first hurricane in a year, the report said. The storm made landfall in Destin, Florida as a Category 2 hurricane with 105mph winds. It intensified rapidly twice: from a 40mph tropical storm to an 80mph hurricane, then from a Category 1 with 80mph winds to a Category 3 with 120mph winds. It turned post-tropical over Alabama on Saturday morning and dissipated a few hours after weakening over Tennessee on Sunday. Power outages spread across Florida and Alabama and into western Georgia.

At $3 billion, the estimate sits at the top of the $2 billion-$3 billion range Cotality published on October 13.
