Twelve Securis adds André Botma to its unified ILS platform
A 25-year ILS veteran joins from Euler ILS Partners as Twelve Securis merges cat bond and private strategies into one platform.
Twelve Securis has added André Botma as a portfolio manager in its ILS investment management team, Artemis reported. The appointment follows the manager's recently announced restructuring, which folds catastrophe bond and private ILS capabilities into one platform built to run dedicated strategies and blended portfolios.
Botma joins from Euler ILS Partners, the Swiss ILS specialist, where he most recently served as senior portfolio manager. His career spans more than 25 years in ILS, insurance and financial markets, much of it in cat bond and private ILS portfolio management, portfolio construction and asset allocation. He spent several years at Credit Suisse Group AG as senior portfolio manager for insurance-linked strategies. UBS acquired Credit Suisse in 2023. By mid-2024 it had agreed to sell the Insurance Linked Strategies business to management led by Niklaus Hilti; that vehicle became Euler ILS Partners. Earlier in his career, Botma held structured products positions at South African capital markets firms.
At Twelve Securis, Botma will work with the portfolio management, analytics, trading and catastrophe and climate research teams. The firm says his experience adds depth and complements existing capabilities; its investment philosophy, portfolio construction process and risk management framework remain unchanged.
The hire gives Twelve Securis a portfolio manager who has worked on both the public and private sides of ILS. It also takes Botma from Euler just as that firm argues cat bond yields are normalizing, with average coupons still at 7.12%, as Insurance Capital Daily reported this week. Twelve Securis is betting that one desk can serve investors who want exposure to both public cat bonds and private ILS. Botma's mix of experience suggests the new platform is meant to be used, not just announced.
